Leg Exercises Using Smith Squats

When performing squat exercises without a spotter, it's often best to use the smith machine.

However, one mistake people make when using a smith machiine and trying to focus on the quads, is placing the feet too far forward and being too far under the bar. It's far more natural to let your pelvis rotate a little behind you as you lower into the full squat position.

Another mistake is to only squat to a point about half way down. This is often much harder on your knees than carfully going down below that point. Also, never lock out at the top of the movement or use more weight than you can handle correctly for at least 6-8 reps.
