However, gestational diabetes symptoms usually disappears after giving birth and the baby is born without the disease.

Among women who are at risk of gestational diabetes are those who are over 30 years old, have big babies during previous pregnancies, family history of diabetes and of course, being over-weight.

The signs of gestational diabetes will usually occur during the third trimester. It can be caused by a change in hormones brought about by pregnancy or, like the other types, lack of insulin.
